Commerson's dolphin

 Commerson's dolphin has a very distinctive patterning. It has a black head, dorsal fin, and fluke, with a white throat and body. The demarcation between the two colours is very clear-cut. This stocky creature is one of the smallest of all cetaceans growing to around 1.5 m (5 ft). A mature female caught off of south Patagonia, at 23 kg (51 lb) and 1.36 m (4.5 ft), may be the smallest adult cetacean on record. Its appearance resembles that of a porpoise, but its conspicuous behaviour is typical of a dolphin. The dorsal fin has a long, straight leading edge which ends in a curved tip. The trailing is typically concave but not falcate. The fluke has a notch in the middle. This dolphin has no rostrum. It is not known why their distribution is limited to the southern coast of South America and the Kerguelen Islands.

La demarcación entre los dos colores es muy tajante. Esta criatura rechoncha es uno de los más pequeños de todos los cetáceos de crecimiento de alrededor de 1,5 m (5 pies). Una hembra madura atrapado con la del sur de la Patagonia, a los 23 kg (51 libras) y 1,36 m (4,5 pies), puede ser el cetáceo más pequeño adulto registrado. Su aspecto se asemeja al de una marsopa, pero su conducta sospechosa es típico de un delfín. La aleta dorsal tiene un largo de borde de ataque, recta que termina en una punta curva. El arrastre es normalmente cóncava pero no encorvada. La casualidad tiene una muesca en el centro. Este delfín no tiene tribuna. No se sabe por qué su distribución se limita a la costa meridional de América del Sur y las islas Kerguelen. 

 In size does not exceed 145 cm. The males do not exceed 42 kg, while the females are slightly larger, reaching 50 kg. The head, pectoral fins, genital area, back of the insertion of the dorsal fin to include in its entirety the caudal fin are black, while the rest of the animal including the throat is white.

En tamaño no supera los 145 cm. Los machos no sobrepasan los 42 kg, mientras que la hembras son un poco más grandes, alcanzando los 50 kg. The hatchlings are about 70 cm in length , are gray or brownish gray completely . During the first year of life will act under the guidance of the mother.

The dorsal fin of bottlenose dolphins is located immediately behind the middle of the back , meanwhile the caudal fin is broad in relation to body size , having a central recess of about 2 cm deep.

La aleta dorsal de las toninas overas se ubica inmediatamente detrás de la mitad de la espalda, por su parte la aleta caudal es ancha en relación al tamaño corporal, presentando una hendidura central de aproximadamente 2 cm de profundidad.
